New opening day planned for Hinksey Outdoor Pool

Oxford City Council has been undertaking a programme of works at Hinksey Outdoor Pool to improve the quality and enhance customer experience. The main work has been to install a new pool liner which was completed at the beginning of April. With the high levels of rain throughout April we have been unable to apply the final sealing coat which requires a dry day to complete. We have also been exploring options to cover the pool however, this has proved difficult due to the size of and fountain features in the pool. We are therefore regrettable that the pool opening will be delayed until later in May.

Ian Brooke, Head of Leisure and Parks at Oxford City Council, says: “The work to the pool lining commenced as planned, unfortunately due to what has been the wettest April for over a 100 years we have been unable to apply the protective coating to the new liner. We are still planning to open the pool in May and are confident that people will be appreciative of the improvements when it opens.

Please keep checking this website for the latest information Leisure membership holders will be kept informed of the opening day by text messages to mobile phone numbers or personal telephone calls.
